Supporting local talent is really important to us. So where we can, from print materials to artwork to the community programs we support, we’ll do our best to keep it close to home.

Our yearly Pass is designed by a local, Toronto-based artist and is available as a physical print or digital download. Each Pass comes with a unique activation code.

We want customers to take home a printed Pass as a collectable memory of their adventures.

With a Pass and it’s assigned activation code, guests can easily start exploring the city through cafés on our app.

2M+ books given away since 2008

A portion of every Pass purchased or gifted throughout
the year will directly support the meaningful work behind

The Children’s Book Bank

In a digital world with unhealthy amounts of screen time, nurturing curiosity, reading and storytelling is as important as ever.

The Children's Book Bank is a vital community initiative that puts books directly in the hands of kids across Toronto,  inviting learners of all reading levels and backgrounds.

With 4 hubs across city,  they're truly a welcoming space for everyone.  Teens and parents with their children can pop in 7 days a week and pick up a book for free, no registration,  fees,  membership,  or ID required.

Since 2008,  they've given away over 2 million books to kids across the city and continue to grow their literacy programs through weekly community events,  free visits for schools,  daycares,  and summer camps.

Beyond cafés and businesses, there are many helping hands that shape our community, take a moment to get to know the organizations that care for our us.

Our goal is to spark curiousity. It will always be about helping others in small, but meaningful ways. The wild dream? To be a recognized City of Toronto staple that locals look forward to and a must-try experience for tourists alike. Join us for the ride!

Getting started

Consider it a passport to exploring Toronto’s local coffee scene. It means discovering your next fav spot, visiting a new neighbourhood, and trying a new drink + snack combo.

A Pass gives customers one offer at each of the 27 participating Toronto cafés: a free standard drink or up to $5 off any drink. Customers browse cafés, redeem offers, save their fav. spots, and write reviews in the Coffee Pass app.

Read through this page and its terms, then let us know if you’re interested or wish to decline using the registration form below. Then start prepping your café profile details (checklist below). We’ll be in touch with the next step once we receive your form.

Each Pass holder can redeem one offer per café: either one free standard drink or up to $5 off any drink.

We recommend including any standard menu beverage, including teas, caffeine-free options, and seasonal drinks. Add-ons like syrups and milk alternatives aren’t expected, but always appreciated. The offer value is at your discretion, though we recommend a minimum of $3.50 to encourage engagement.

There’s no sign-up fee. Your cost is only the drink offer for each Pass holder when they visit.

Promote the Pass at your café by:

  • Displaying the marketing materials in your onboarding bundle.
  • Featuring our logo and event on your website and social media.
  • Promoting the event at your location and encouraging your team and customers to do the same.
  • Offering to host media and promotional opportunities that may be available throughout the year. Ask us for more details!
Redeeming at the counter
  1. The customer opens the app and selects your café.
  2. At the counter, they tell the barista they’d like to redeem a Pass drink.
  3. They ask the barista for your café’s 4-digit PIN and enter it in the app.
  4. The app shows a confirmation screen with a live countdown and today’s date. The barista gives it a quick look to verify - a frozen screen or incorrect date means it’s not valid.
  5. The redemption is recorded automatically.

You’ll need a promo or discount button on your POS to ring up Pass drinks.

Each café will get a cue card with FAQs and a 4-digit PIN. Guests need to ask your team for it, we recommend keeping it near the counter for easy reference and accuracy.

No. All offers and redemptions are recorded in the app, and built-in security features help prevent misuse. Your barista just needs to check that the redemption screen’s countdown is ticking and that it shows today’s date.

Direct them to Pass support: cheers@alittlecommunityproject.ca

Only your café’s PIN will work. Other PINs are rejected. Direct all inquiries to Pass support: cheers@alittlecommunityproject.ca.

No purchase needed. The Pass drink offer can be redeemed anytime during your regular hours. Consistency builds trust.

Your café profile

Your profile includes an image, a short bio, hours, address, social media and website links, and a live counter that follows your operating hours (open/closed).

Cafés are listed first-come, first-served. The sooner you confirm your info, the higher your café appears. The later you confirm, the lower down the list you will be.

The open/closed counter follows your listed hours, so accurate hours stop customers from arriving to a closed door.

Share one clear image, a short bio, your hours, address, and your social and website links. To confirm: image size and format, and bio length.

Customers and Passes

Online, either mailed to them or as a digital Pass with instant access, or in person at a participating café.

They create a free account in the app and enter the unique activation code that comes with their Pass. Digital Pass buyers receive the code by email.

For a digital Pass, the buyer forwards the activation code email to the giftee.

Yes, your onboarding bundle includes a set of Passes.

Selling a Pass in-person:

  1. The barista points the customer to your café’s QR code on the back of your display Pass.
  2. The customer scans it and completes the purchase on their phone.
  3. They show the barista their order confirmation email, and the barista checks that the date and time is correct.
  4. Once it’s verified, the barista hands them a Pass.

Let us know when you’re running low on Passes.

January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2027.

So, should we save you a spot?
